The Inaugural Post

This is a blog devoted to my 2014 NaNoWriMo novel, Steve Johnson & the Ninth World. Every word of the novel I write will be in here.

I am posting my writing in public to have a form of accountability. I don't actually expect anyone to read it...let alone, like it...but I know myself, and I know that if I'm writing for a reader, I will be more motivated to write. I intend to write around 1700 words per day. Doing so will give me the NaNoWriMo goal of 50,000 words in 30 days. This writing will most-likely happen in the morning, but I will do it whenever I can fit it in.

If you are intending on reading this, please remember that this is the very roughest of drafts. I intend for a lot of this novel to be more or less free association along a thinly-established plotline. There will be parts that don't make sense. There will be parts that are contradictory to other parts. Plotlines can (and probably will) change, or be dropped entirely. There might even be parts where characters change names, or even cease to exist. Some days, I might not even write narratively at all, in favor of more outlining. My only goal is 1700 words per day, by any means necessary. For all these reasons, I encourage you not to read this blog. Again, I only post publicly for personal accountability.

I would appreciate any and all feedback, but my golden rule of rough draft writing is never, ever look back. I will keep your advice in mind for future writing, but I will not correct or change anything that's already been written. That's what the revision process is for.

If you do decide to read this, for whatever reason, thank you for your support. Hopefully, this will at least be mildly entertaining to you.


VERY IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Not to sound like the typical cliche, but any direct likeness to anyone....be they a personal friend, family member, or public figure....are purely coincidential. Though my interactions with real people will inspire this novel, there is absolutely NO direct, one on one correlation between any character or plotline in this story and anything that has happened in real life.
